Setting the evolutionary timeline: Tillandsia landbeckii in the Chilean Atacama Desert

چکیده
Abstract The Chilean Atacama Desert is among the oldest deserts of world. Here, Tillandsia landbeckii forming a unique vegetation type known as lomas. This consists in its typical configuration one single vascular plant species only and forms regular linear structures sloped landscape largely depending on fog occurrence dominant source water supply. Without developing root system, there are few other terrestrial growing bare sand Chile Peru such T. marconae , virescens purpurea or latifolia . Although phylogenetic evidence limited, convergent evolution this growth behavior evident. predominantly arid hyper-arid climate exists since Early Miocene, which raises question about timing evolutionary history. Phylogenomic analyses using whole plastome sequence data highlight onset diversification approximately 500,000 years ago. We also demonstrate subsequent secondary genetic contact with during Late Pleistocene DNA genome size estimates, resulted into formation

The Atacama Desert Trek: Outcomes
In June and July 1997, Nomad, a planetary-relevant mobile robot, traversed more than 220 kilometers across the barren Atacama Desert in Chile, exploring a landscape analogous to the surfaces of the Moon and Mars. In this unprecedented demonstration, Nomad operated both autonomously and under the control of operators thousands of kilometers away, addressing issues of robot configuration, communi...
متن کاملOperating Nomad during the Atacama Desert Trek
Nomad is a mobile robot designed for extended planetary exploration. In June and July of 1997, Nomad performed the first such mission, traversing more than 220 kilometers in the Atacama Desert of Chile and exploring a landscape analogous to that of the Moon and Mars. Nomad's journey, the Atacama Desert Trek, was an unprecedented demonstration of long-distance, long-duration robotic operation. G...
متن کاملEvolutionary lag times and recent origin of the biota of an ancient desert (Atacama-Sechura).
The assembly of regional biotas and organismal responses to anthropogenic climate change both depend on the capacity of organisms to adapt to novel ecological conditions. Here we demonstrate the concept of evolutionary lag time, the time between when a climatic regime or habitat develops in a region and when it is colonized by a given clade. We analyzed the time of colonization of four clades (...
متن کاملcontribution of setting to the study of characters and the main idea in e. brontes: wuthering heights and t. hardys: return of the native.
this thesis aims to adduce an unmitigated and comprehensive explication concerning the relationship of three significant elements of fiction: setting, chracter and theme. my research is basically placed on two outstanding novels of the 19th century: emily brontes wuthering heights and thomas hardys return of the native. my endeavour lies in studying the correlation among the three above-mention...

BACKGROUND The Atacama Desert is one of the driest deserts in the world and its soil, with extremely low moisture, organic carbon content, and oxidizing conditions, is considered to be at the dry limit for life. RESULTS Analyses of high throughput DNA sequence data revealed that bacterial communities from six geographic locations in the hyper-arid core and along a North-South moisture gradien...
